Introduction
Canterbury Anifest was first launched in 2007 as Kent's first Animation festival. Since then we have welcomed some of Britain's leading animation industry professionals to Canterbury to show films, host workshops and answer questions about creating some much loved characters.
From Bagpuss to Frankenstein's Cat, Animal Farm to Shaun the Sheep, the festival has showcased work from numerous award-winning directors both on and off the screen.
Canterbury Anifest is an annual event that takes place every November. As well as the main festival event there is a wide array of satellite activities that take place throughout the year taking you all the way from script to screen.
Getting involved
Do you know someone who could be the next Walt Disney? Or are you just curious to know how the pictures are brought to life? Whether you're 5 or 65 years old there is something for everyone.
You can take part in workshops to learn about scriptwriting or how to design a character. Or learn how to make a storyboard or build a model. You could even enter your work into the annual competitions, especially our Smallfilms award designed for young filmmakers under 17 years of age.
At Canterbury Anifest we're always looking for the next big talent. We have seen so much creativity and passion in young filmmakers that we believe that the next Nick Park could be right around the corner- in Kent!
