Canterbury Anifest is proud to present Animat-ED; a free day of animation for schools in the South East.  The day is jammed packed full of the best animation produced by young people, for young people.  The event is taking place at Canterbury Christ Church University’s new Augustine House building with full disabled access.

Head of model making at Aardman Animations, Jim Parkyn will be spending the day with us and giving a talk on the model making process for the Creature Comforts animations.  He’ll be screening material and giving a behind-the-scenes insight on how they bring the models to life through animation.  He will also be bringing along all the favourite characters from the show for you to see firsthand!

We will be showcasing films from Home Grown Talent 2011, which were made by young people in the South East on the theme of turning masterpieces into animation, using famous works of art such as Lowry and Swan Lake.We will also be screening films with a focus on disability by young people as well as hosting an awards ceremony for the young filmmakers.

There will be 10 places for pupils plus staff, given on a first come, first served basis.  Booking will be available from 1st September.  We will require risk assessment forms from all schools prior to the event.  Please be aware that there is no parking directly available, however the Holman’s Meadow and Watling Street car parks are very close by and if you require a map or directions of available places these can be given upon request.

If you, your school or community group are interested please get in contact with us to reserve your places in advance as availability is limited.  Call 01227 281966 or email ezra@animateandcreate.com.
