10:30am Doors Open
Festival opens to the public, free animation workshops and animation fare kicks off to ticket holders

11:00am Wallace and Gromit come to Canterbury!
We are proud to welcome Wallace and Gromit to the South East for the very first time. Aardman Animations will be giving an insight into the making of Britain’s most loved animated character. The session includes clips and a behind the scenes presentation from a member of the production crew, plus a chance to see your favourite characters up close!

Wallace and Gromit

12:30pm The Gruffalo
Canterbury Anifest is proud to present a special one off screening of the BBC’s hit show The Gruffalo. This beautiful animation retells the famous children’s book written by Julia Donaldson and has a voice cast including James Corden, Helena Bonham Carter and John Hurt.

14:30pm Children of Small Films
Canterbury Anifest will be celebrating the work of Oliver Postgate and Peter Firmin through the voices of their children. Canterbury Anifest has invited Dan Postgate, Stephen Postgate, Charlotte Firmin and Emily Firmin to share their memories of growing up around their fathers animations including Bagpuss and the Clangers. The session will be introduced by Children television director Martin Goodsmith.

Bagpuss

16:00pm Competition Screening & Awards Ceremony
The best short animated films from across the UK and an awards presentation. This is the fourth year of the competition which for the first time includes a best animation from the South East.

19:00pm An evening with Phill Jupitus
We are proud to welcome one of the biggest names in British comedy Phill Jupitus, to headline this year’s Anifest. The evening, which Phill describes as a ‘night in with the telly’ will be a one off chance to see Phill on stage talking about his favourite Looney Tunes. During the set which Phill has designed especially for Anifest, he will talk about the visual jokes, dialogue and performances which make these cartoons so funny.
